  • New Immigrants

    During the 19th and 20th century, a huge group of poor, non speaking english, catholic and jewish immigrants came into the United States
  • Programs for children

    During the 1940 specific programs for children with brain injury were becoming common
  • Brown V. Board of Education was formed

    The U.S. supreme court had formed a civil rights decision called Brown V. Board of Education.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    The Elementary and Secondary Education act was established by congress to help with grants/funds. The funds were used to help state programs and projects for education on handicap children.
  • Education of the Handicapped Act

    The Education of the Handicapped Act was enforced by congress to help states develop educational programs. These programs would help with people with disabilities.
  • Legislation

    During this time legislation was introduction by congress. This helped the right to education for every child that is handicapped.
  • Education for all handicapped children

    Congress plan with this law was for all children with disabilities had the right to education.

    The state department of education have certain responsibilities under IDEA. Each state must be following these certain rules.
  • Purpose of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act of 2004

    The two main purpose are providing a education that meet the needs of the child. The second is how it prepares the child for the future education, employment and independent living.
