Augustus assumes the throne as the first Roman Emperor after his father Jullius Caesar dies. He will continue to rule Rome alone until his death in 14 AD by the barbarian King Odacer of Italy. -
44 BCE Julius Casear assassinated
Julius Caeasr is assassinated by the Senate and his best friend Brutus participated as well. Casear was stabbed 23 times with Brutus as the last one to stab him. When the people of Rome found out of his death, they were furious. Caesar appealed to them in a god like sense that they even began worshipping him after his death.
