Creation
Reddit is created by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian, both 22-year-old gaduates of The University of Virginia. It recieved its initial funding from Y Combinator of $100,000. Reddit is a social media website with over 200,000 active members on it each day. There are hundreds of 'sub'reddits which are user created and can be about anything. With over one billion pages views per month Reddit is continuously expanding and updating -

Gawker
(Date not specified) A Gawker magazine was published focusing on the real life identity of "Violentacrez" a Reddit admin who was linked to pictures of underage girls, rape fantasies, upskirt photos, and other similar subjects. Soon after the article was published the contributor Micheal Brutsch, age 49, was fired from his job. Soon after the article was published several of the mods banned all Gawker links from their Subreddits. -
Goodbye Aaron...
Aaron Swartz passed away at the age of 27, he had joined Reddit in 2006 and is missed on the reddit team. He was found in his Brooklyn apartment after he had hung himself. Since his death, the open access movement kickstarted and MIT has been hacked twice.
