Audion Tube
Lee De Forest, created (or "borrowed" the idea for) the audion tube, a vacuum tube that amplified signals. It is widely believed that a Canadia inventor, Reginald Fessenden, actually came up with the idea, but Fessenden didn't seem to make it into the history books for the invention. -
First radio broadcast
The first public radio broadcast was a live Metropolitan Opera House performance of several famous opera singers. -
Frank Conrad
He began the first regular radio broadcasts from his garage in 1916, Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. He's responsible for the founding of the first licensed broadcast station in the world, KDKA. -
First radio commercial
In 1922 WEAF aired a 10 minute 'commercial' or toll broadcast, for an Apartment complex charging $50. -

Major edwin armstrong invented the FM transmitter which made stronger signals which force people to buy new radio sets. AM was talking shows and FM was for music. -
Invention of Televison
Television is born. FM is moved from its original home of 42-50 Mhz to 88-108 Mhz to make room for TV. -

CBN plays "It's my Party" by Leslie Gore for 18 hours straight the day after Reagan is elected. -
First rap on a major radio station
Mr. Magic debuted in 1981 on WHBI-FM in New York City with the first exclusive rap radio show to be aired on a major station. Billing itself as Rap Attack. -
