    Many believe that Lee De Forest created the Audion Tube. The Audion Tube amplified radio signals. It is considered that Reginald Fessenden came up with the idea, but is not given credit.

    The first radio station was founded. The radio station was first named 8XK but later renamed KDKA. This radio station is still broadcasting today.

    The first commercial was aired. The commercial was a 10 minute ad from an appartment complex that paid $50. This ad was broadcasted on WEAF.
  • FRC

    The FRC was founded because there were too many Uncle Charlies. The FRC limited and monitored transmitters and channel frequencies.

    The Great Depression was in effect and people were working hard for cash. So they turned to radio. Radio provided them an excape from their hard kives.

    Radio shows that were tried to be put on TV didn't work out. Mainly because the people did not approve of the visual representation of the characters and the way they sounded.

    Due to the popularity of TV, advertisers left radio. This caused radio to jump ship. Until they decided to start playing music instead of just radio shows.

    Major Edwin Armstrong invented the FM transmitter. FM stood for Frequency Modulation. FM could handle 88-108MHz while AM could only handle 535-1605KHz
