    In 1895, Guglielmo Marconi, an italian inventor, sent and received the first radio signal. The first signal was not a recorded voice or a song but more likely a tone or some type of noticeable sound. There were many doubters of Marconi who believed he was not the true inventor, but strong in public relations (PR).

    Lee De Forest, an American inventor, created the audion tube. This invention was a vacuum tube that amplified the signals in radio. Once again, this was another belief of PR to people who believed the Canadian inventor, Reginald Fessenden was the original creator.

    Frank Conrad of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania invented the first radio station. The original name was 8XK that later changed to KDKA.The invention was progression from the firsrt ideas of the radio 25 years ago. To play each song and broadcast he placed his microphone next to his phonograph that produced the sound. At the time, most radio broadcasts were mainly news.
