  • First portable camera

    Johann Zahn invented the first portable camera in 1685. For the next 130 years, there was little growth in development
  • First camera

    The first device able to reproduce and capture an image was invented in 1816 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and was called the heliograph.
  • Camera

    In 1839, Louis Daguerre created the daguerreotype, which was much closer to the photographic camera concept we know today
  • Alphonse Giroux

    Alphonse Giroux invented the first commercially manufactured photographic camera, the photo camera, in 1839.
  • Canon Camera

    The VT model is the first Canon camera designed for mass production. Cine 8-T 8mm cine camera launched in November 1956 as Canon's first step toward camera diversification. Canon introduces its first 35mm single lens reflex (SLR) camera, the Canonflex. The Reflex Zoom 8 starts the boom in 8mm zoom cameras.
  • Digital camera

    Digital cameras have been around a lot longer than you might think, however. Invented in 1975 at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., the first digital camera displayed photos on its screen. The Kodak digital camera has been commemorated as an IEEE Milestone.
  • Sony

    The first consumer use Mavica. This model was marketed as an electronic still camera for the TV age. Incorporated auto-strobe, fast successive shooting, and timer functions, as well as TV screen display (with the attachment of an optional kit), among a host of other features.
  • Fujifilm X-H2S

    Fujifilm released their all new Fujifilm X-H2S in May of 2022 after almost eight months of not releasing a new camera. The Fujifilm X-H2S is an immensely specked out Mirrorless camera
  • Nikon Z8

    One of the Nikon Z8's most appealing aspects is its form factor. The Z8 offers a comfortable and ergonomic grip, similar to my Nikon D750 DSLR. The Z8 is smaller and lighter than the flagship Nikon Z9 but still has a rugged, weather-sealed body that can withstand harsh conditions.
  • OM System OM-1 Mark II

    The OM System OM-1 Mark II is a high-speed Micro Four Thirds camera based around a 20MP Stacked CMOS sensor. As the name implies, it's an updated version of the flagship OM-1, with hardware and firmware improvements. Announced and available for preorder in January 2024, it started shipping in February
