Camera Obscura
The Camera Obscura is a 18th century device used by artist to ake quick sketches in a field. "Camera Obscura" means "dark room" and the camera was made in a box shape with a pinhole which would reflect the image onto a wall upside down, the artists would then sketch the image. -

First series of photos in National Geographic
Nationsl Geographic national publishes it frst stand alone photograhic series in 1905. The piece, a photographic tour of Lhasa Tibet, runs in January 1905 issue and files 11 pages. Magazine editor Gilbert H. Grosvenor thought he would be fired by victorial but unexpectadly he was congratulated. -
