  • Electrical Speed Machine

    Invented by Alexander Grahm Bell. By 1878, Bell set up the first electric telephone exchange in New Haven, Connecticut. After Bell's death in 1922, his telephone creation was able to transmit video images.
  • Payphone

    Payphone
    This was the first coin-operated phone created by William Gray from Hartford, Connecticut. The phone was first installed and used at a bank in Hartford.
  • Western electric well phone

    Back board was an arched top with the line terminals attached called a cathedral top. The reciever was commonly called the "pony" reciever. These type of phones had a 'red bar' magneto.
  • Crosley Old Fashioned Candlestick

    Often reffered to as a desk stand , an upright or a stick phone. These phones consisted of a mouthpiece (transmitter) mounted ontop of a stand and the earpiece reciever that the user held during each call. The reciever rested on the side of the stand when not in use.

    The first cell phone created by motorola. These were huge in size weighing about 2 pounds. Unlike all portable phones today, this phone however was not convinent for costomers to carry around with them.
