The Maricopa County Junior College District was establish in 1962 by the approval of voters acquiring Phoenix Junior College. -
Maricopa Community College was officially named.
In 1971, the Junior College portion of the name was changed to Community College. -

In 1988, the Nationwide Commission of the Future of Community Colleges created partnerships with employers. -
