    Boniface the Monferrat (Crusader) sold Crete to the Doge of Venice

    1206 The Genoan pirate Enrico Pescatore conquered Chandax.
    1210 Τhe Venetians settle in the city after winning the war.

    Rebuilding the city
    After an earthquake, the city was rebuilt as a large Turkish city with mosques, minarets, coffee-shops, fountains, tower-like houses with projected upper storeys.

    After a great slaughter bu Turks on the 25th of August 1898, Autonomous Cretan State was created. Prince George was High Commissioner.
    Name of city: Heraklion.
