    Due to there being a high increase in Cuban students in Miami, the first Bilingual/bicultural school opens in the US; known as Coral Way Elementary School, still open to this day. This would begin the acceptance of Spanish speaking children in the US education system.

    In 1964 the ground beneath the US shook as we knew it. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 would be passed by law to prohibit discrimination based on ones race, color, sex, religion or national origin. This act would aid in merging different cultures in the US, along with aiding in the education of women (especially of color).

    The Apple company released its first successful PC known as the Apple II, which led to having the Apple IIe available in schools. This would start the use of PC in a classroom of computer based learning with games such as Oregon Trail, sparking interactive learning with technology versus other classmates (later resulting in high tech skills /low communication skills).

    A Nation at Risk, a report written by Ronald Reagan evaluates the education system in the United States. He reported that the US was failing to educate students well enough to compete in the workforce. This would in turn raise pay for teachers and aid in education funding. Ronald Reagan saw the need for more competitive education in the US.

    In the ruling of Honig vs Doe, it was determined that children exhibiting behaviors from a disability could not be indefinitely suspended. Giving many children the opportunity to learn not only educational objectives, but also to socialize. This would also give the other children a chance to interact well with disabled youth.

    With the first online bachelors and masters program, this would allow individuals from across the nation to interact, pursue education and be more flexible with their time management. An online school also would allow individuals with certain disabilities and extenuating circumstances to be able to take part in higher education at the comfort of their private locations.

    In a small suburb known as Littleton Colorado, two high school students would go on a killing spree killing 15 and injuring another 23. This would be the largest school shooting incident to date, leaving the nation distressed in sending their children to school.

    Four commercial planes are highjacked and crashed into the twin towers of New York City and the pentagon in Washington DC. There was a total of 2976 victims, causing a heightened threat and worry in the US. The Patriot Act was then signed and passed, allowing the government to perform a search with out warning in given circumstances. This incident would be taught in schools there on after.

    Barack Obama is inaugarated as the 44th president of the United States. He is the first African American president, shifting the image of the POTUS.

    President Donald Trump rescinds what previous president Barack Obama transgender bathroom directive. This act would take steps back from the social acceptance and equal rights of transgender individuals in school systems.
