First compound microscope
Zacharias Jansen and his fater invented the first compund microscope. It was used as a novelity more than a scientific tool. The magnification was 9x and blurry. It had 3 sliding tubes, 18 in when extened, and 2 in in diameter. -
Micrographia
Robert Hooke made a book with detailed illustrations of close up organisms. He was known for his discoveries on cork and fleas. He discovered plant cells. -
First making of a real microsope
Anton van Leeuwenhoek made the first microscope- one that wasn't just a novelity item. The tube was mae of 550 lenses that had a magnification of 270x compared to 50x at that time. He made a lot of dicoveries. -
Refinements
The microscope did not have many advancements for 200 years. However, Carl Zeiss began making refinements. -
More refinements
Carl Zeiss Hired Otto Scott who did research on glass. He improved the quality of the lens by a lot. -
Modern microscopes
Recently, developments of the microscope have slowed down because we have a good understanding of microscopes. We have reached the optical limits. -
Dynascope
Dynascope doesn't have the traditional eyepiece so you can move your head around and have more freedom.
