Introducing Massage Therapy
During 1868, a new practice was discovered by a man named Johann Georg Mezger, a Swedish man who was and is often mistaken for Per Henrik Ling. This practice is called "Massage Therapy".

In 1868, Mezger passed his Doctoral exam and wrote a 47-page dissertation on "The Treatment of Distorio pedis with Frictions", which served as the Therapeutic basis for Swedish Massage.

The 5 Techniques of Swedish Massage
Dr. Mezger developed five strategies on how to better massages, or in other words, release the tightness of soft tissue. These techniques are Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Tapotement, and Vibration.

The Chair
FUJIIRYOKI was founded in 1954. Late Nobuo Fujimoto who was the founder and opened "Fujiiryoki Workshop" in Hannamancho, Abeno-ku, Osaka City. At that time, Japanese people had gone to public baths in the town. Fujimoto who was selling scrub brush to wash tiles in public baths thought whether he could do something in the dressing room where people could gather and relax for healing the fatigue of the day, so he started to develop massage chair.

The General Assembly recognized that the practice of massage/bodywork is harmful to people, and that therapist must have knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology and an understanding of the relationship between the structure and the function of the tissues being treated and the total function of the body. Massage/bodywork is therapeutic, and regulations are necessary to protect people from unqualified practitioners.

Helps with HIV?
Massage therapy may help improve the quality of life for people with HIV or AIDS, in 2010 there was a review of 4 studies with a total of 178 participants. In 2013 a study of 54 people indicated that massage therapy may be helpful for depression in people with HIV, and a 2017 study of 29 people with HIV suggested that massage may be helpful for anxiety.

Can growth be possible with Massages?
A 2017 research review analyzed the results of 34 studies of massage therapy for premature infants. Twenty of the studies evaluated the effect of massage on weight gain, showing an improvement. The mechanism by which massage therapy might increase weight gain is not well understood. Some studies suggested other possible benefits of massages, but because the amount of evidence is so little.
