Peter Cooper Hewitt created a blue- green light. Using a way around electric current he was able to make the bulb with mercury Vapor.

In 1904 European inventors came up with the idea of using tungsten filament. This addition helped the light bulb last longer and it made it much more brighter.

In 1913, Irving Langmuir inserted gas into light bulbs. Langmuir used a gas like nitrogen in the bulb which doubled its efficiency.

In 1976 Edward Hammer discovered how to bend the fluorescent tube into a spiral shape. It was later created into the first Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL).
