Karl Marx is born
Karl Marx was born on May 5th, 1818, the son of the lawyer Heinrich Marx and Henriette Pressburg. -
Karl goes to college
In October 1835 at the age of 16, Marx traveled to the University of Bonn wishing to study philosophy and literature, but later changed his focus to law instead. -

Karl Marx graduates from the University of Berlin in April of 1841 -
After College
After receiving his degree, Marx began writing for the liberal democratic newspaper Rheinische Zeitung, and he became the paper's editor in 1842. The Prussian government banned the paper as too radical the following year. With his new wife, Jenny von Westphalen, Marx moved to Paris in 1843. -
The First Manifesto
Karl Marx proposed this new ideology in his Communist Manifesto, which he wrote with Friedrich Engels in 1848. The manifesto emphasized the importance of class struggle in every historical society, and the dangerous instability capitalism created. -
Karl Marx publishes Das Kapital
In 1867 Marx published his first volume of Das Kapital. -
