In 1872, a bet was made betting that all four of a horse's feet are off the ground at one point. A man took many rapid pictures of the horse and cought it with all four feet off of the ground. This was said to be the origin of filming. -

Martin and Osa Jhonson's Film
The film "Simba" by Martin and Osa Jhonson was released with large scale success in 1928. The flm was about the two of them holding a camera and a rifle. They explored the African sub-continent in search of wildlife. -
The Private Life of the Gannets
This British film was realesed in 1937. It was about exploring Britain's wilds. It was the first wildlife film to recieve an Award for Best One Reel Short Subject. -
Men Among Sharks
Hans Hass uses self-contained diving equipment and flippers to search for wildlife. This allowed a film about fish and other wildlife to be made underwater. It also allowed the filming of normally inaccesable caves to be explored and saved on camera. -
