The US used movies as propaganda in WW2 to get people to enlist. They also made realist war dramas for people to watch and honor war heroes. America also used films to spread anti-Nazi propaganda.

Paranoia during this time spread to the movie industry as people began to make movies about evil aliens invading and the communist. The movie industry began to be threatend by the tv industry as more people were getting Tv's than going to the movies.

Areas such as Asia produced many of thier "Masterpieces" during the 1940s-1950s. The amount of Asian films being produced increased exponensially aswell as the quality of films.

The directors during the 70s began to focus on science fiction, explicit violence, and other adult themes. Story lines also began to feature suprising "twist" endings.

Directors began to do sequels for thier movies which was unheard of at the time. Also the rise of the Blockbuster-ish companies caused allowed for ease of access to movies that had been released.
