The first movie.
In 1872 Edward Muybridge created the first movie ever. The movie was about a horse, and they were rigging cameras to capture quick shots of the horse. -
Early Cinema
In 1891 the Edison Company that was established in the USA had successfully demonstrated a prototype of the Kinetoscope which allowed one person to view moving pictures. Short films were only a few minutes or less, and were shown at fairgrounds and music halls. -
First projected moving pictures
In Paris 1895 the people to first present a moving pictures to a paying audience were the Lumiere brothers. These two are some of the most significant figures in Film and Photography history, and have been called as the inventors of cinema. -
The Rise of Film industry
In 1914, tons of national film industries were established. Films became a lot longer, more story telling and more narrative. People paid to see the movies and the film industry began to grow more and more. -
Adding color
The technicolor process from 1915 was extensive, but helped color wasn't used until the three-color process in 1932. -
Adding Sound
The first time people tried to add sound to films they used photographic cylinders. The first movie to incorporate sound into the movie was The Jazz Singer in 1927 -
Aspect Ratio
When sound was added the aspect ratio of movies was adjusted, and after that there were no major changes in aspect ratios until the 1950s. -
Problems of the American Film Industry
Hollywood in 1950 was quickly threatened by television broadcasting and it was quickly becoming the main entertainment source in the United States. -
The economic decline.
The decline in the 1990's caused a decrease in box office revenue, and lots of pressure was on studio executives so they could rush and put out movies on time. -
Netflix
Movies in the 2000s were now available for people to watch on their phones, tablets, computers whatever else they had. Netflix allowed people to watch tv shows no matter where they were.
