1st ever camera made was the camera obscure.It was a box camera with a little light inside. the image was shown upside down. people had to draw the image from upside down. -
The Horse in Motion
Eadweard Muybridge made a bet with his friends that a horse could have all 4 legs off the ground. Muybridge bet $25,000 to show he was right. He and his friends lined up cameras that would go off, so they could see the horse at every second. After they saw the footage, they had motion, thus motion pictures were created. -
Kodak
company born in 1888 that produced cameras. The camera was a box shape and a fixed lense. the camera was mostly used for films. After photos were taken, had to be sent to Kodak to be developed. -
Celluloid
1st transparent and flexible film material. discovered by John Carbutt, Hannibal Goodwin, and George Eastman. Kodak Eastemn made celluloid in 1889 -
projector
invented by the Lumiere Brothers in 1895. Thomas Edison made an invention but only allowed 1 person to see a film at a time. So the brothers created the projected and made motion pictures for multiple people to see. It was cinematographe. -
The First Movie
1st movie was made by Edwin Porter called " The Great Train Robbery." The film was shot in New York City at Edison's Studios. The entire film was only 12 minutes long. -
Nickelodeons
Nickelodeons was originally called Vaudeville. It was basically a theatre where people came to perform a song, dance, skit, etc. They called it Nickelodeons because it only cost a nickel to enter the theatre. -
Motion Pictures Patents Company
Thomas Edison created MPPC along with other companies. He wanted to own film, actors, actress, camera, equipment, theaters, & more. Edison made people pay him to make a movie. -
Hollywoodland
Actors and actress went to Hollywoodland to escape from the MPPC. When working in Hollywoodland, everyone got paid to act in movie. All the fans came to see their favorite actors and actress actor in the movies. -
Talkies
Film that had audible dialogue instead of readable texts. The first talkie was in 1927 called "The Jazz Singer." 1940's is when silent films stopped and talkies were everything. -
Color in Film
Color in film was used by using color light at certain parts of the movie, but red, tree, and blue was inly used. Technicolor was later developed and could layer over the black and white. Now color is used in all movies, and the first movie to use it was Wizard of Oz. -
1st Blockbuster movie
A blockbuster is typically a film that really popular and financially successful. The first ever blockbuster movie was JAWS. It was a hit during the summer and made $470 million. -
Film to digital
The first digital camera was made by Steven Sasson in 1975. Later the first digitally filmed movie was Windhorse. Directors like digital better because it was cheaper and a lot easier to carry.
