    Peephole Kinetoscope released to the Public
    Although it was made in 1892, the invention wasn't released to the public until 1893. It was designed for only one person, thinking that if they made it to where only one person could look through to the 'movie' than that would result in them getting a bigger profit. In the end they were wrong and it was just a huge miscalculation.

    Lumiere brothers create cinematographe
    In 1895 the Lumiere brother created a projector that would show movies to many people. This was something Thomas Edison first created but didn't think it would rake in that much profit. The brothers created very short films and displayed them to a crowd of people, amazing them every time.

    The Great Train Robbery was released
    The Great Train Robbery was the very first US Narritive film created. It was directed by a worker of Thomas Edison, Edwin Porter, and lasted about 12 minutes. This was almost revolutionary since all the other films in that time were about 30-60 seconds long.

    First Nickelodeon was created
    Nickelodeons were movie theatres where you would pay a nickel and get to see a movie. Hence where the nickname came from. The term had been used previously from a museum but was popularized by the owners who opened their theatre.

    Owned and operated by Thomas Edison. Owned all things related to film such as actors, equipment, and film stock. If independent movies were trying to be created and someone from the MPPC found out they would find the person and break all their equipment and possibly actors too just so they wouldn't have any competition.

    By 1910 Nickelodeon theatres were attracting about 26 million people. They gained popularity very fast. This showed the film industry what potential they had business wise. This led to the creation of a film monopoly.

    Gertie the Dinosaur is the very first animated film to be shown on the big screen. It was created by Winsor McCay. The animation was so successful that it inspired other artist to do the same. Winsor McCay also drew the whole thing all by himself.

    Charlie Chaplin was one of the 20th Centuries first superstars. He started out making about $150 a week and ended up making over a million dollars a year. Which, especially in the early 1900s was A LOT of money.

    United Artist Established
    Charlie Chaplin, D. W. Griffith, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mary Pickford establish United Artists. They created it to control the films they acted in. The company gained a lot of attention because of the actors who were apart of it. The company ended up producing a lot of the best films of their time.

    Vitaphone invented
    Warner Brothers wanted to create a movie that also created sound. Thomas Edison had tried to make it before but failed so they decided to take a shot at it. Warner Brothers teamed up with some phone companies and radio companies and created the vitaphone. This allowed them to create movies with sound.

    In 1928 Walt Disney released one of the first cartoons with sound, Steamboat Willie. It was in black and white and was produced by Columbia Pictures. All the voices in the film were made by Walt Disney himself.

    Walt Disneys first full length animated feature hits theatres. It was very popular and became a classic instantly. A quater of a million sketches made its way into the final movie draft but over 2 million sketches were drawn during the process. And to give Snow White a real life feel the woman in charge of the ink and paint put real makeup on her.
