The first camera obscura was built in 1816. This allowed people to take basic photos. The images were upside down, however. -

Vaudeville was a theatre. In 1906 Vaudeville started showing small movies in between plays. This increased the amount of people who came, but was later replaced with Nickelodeons. -

At this time, MPPC was founded. This company was founded by Thomas Edison and had the monopoly on the movie industry. This drove many movie creators to California were Hollywood was made. -
First Color Film
One of the first movies to have color was The Wizard of Oz. This movie was made in 1939. Some short films had color before it, however. -
First Blockbuster
The first movie to be considered a blockbuster was Jaws. It earned $100 million in box offices. This movie was about a shark. -
CGI
The first movie to use 3D CGI was Futureworld in 1976. Jurassic Park made it popular, however. It is still used in the film industry to this day. -
First Movie With Sound
The first movie with sound was The Jazz Singer. Many thought the idea would fail. Movies with sound became known as Talkies. -
Top Grossing Movie
The top grossing movie of all time is Avengers: Endgame. This movie was created in 2019. It beat Avatar in August.
