CGI
CGI or also known as Computer Generated Imagery was used in the 1990's in Sci-fi and animation primarily.The films Terminator 2 and Judgement Day saw use of the technology to show futuristic models which helped the budget greatly and saw less use of practical effects.The film Toy Story used CGI to animate the characters and have them do actions which were harder to be done by hand. -
Animation
The genre of Animation developed the most during the 2000's,a majority of films were used now with very little movies using hand drawn such as Spirited Away.With the use of models animated movies began to look more three dimensional and could better interact with the environment.Avatar showed the potential CGI could have and became one of the top grossing films of all time. -

The Marvel cinematic Universe began to become very popular within the last decade and have dominated the box office since its debut in Iron Man in 2006.The combination of the films and the world building entertained audiences around the world in the "Avengers" especially so.Avengers Endgame is a sequel to Avengers Infinity War and has topped the box office and rests at the top as #1 as being one of the most ambitious crossover in film history.
