    There was no concept of actual schools, it was mainly teaching within the household. But they didn't have any supplies, so most wrote on the walls of caves or carved into surfaces to explain stories or events that happened.   • Colonial Era

    Colonial Era
    Most education at this time was still church, family, and community. But after schools were accepted, they were mostly used as a socialization tool. Also at this time, schools were predominantly male, with one or two facilities with education for women. Most were housed in one-room schoolhouses, with small amounts of supplies that were available.

    Students that attended school in this time had many other duties than students do in this time. They would have rotate to help the teacher with duties that paras would do in today's world. Also the children would get extra time learning with the teacher because of how little there were in the class.     U.S Congress Provides Funds
    The U.S. Congress provides federal land grants to states in order to fund education. By this time more and more people were understanding the importance of education and what it could do for the rest of the country.     Schools at this time were still housed in one-room schoolhouses. They were still usually only taught by one teacher with students helping to monitor each other. The age range of children in these schools was five to twenty. The kids had many challenges, some were not getting taught the same criteria as others and having different views. Or needing help on the farm or in workplaces sometimes took the older children out of school.
  • Brown v Board of Education

    Brown v Board of Education
    On May 17, 1954, U.S. Supreme Court ruled that segregation of public schools was a violation of the 14th amendment and was therefore unconstitutional. This decision ended the "separate but equal" act that had been going on for years. Children of different races and ethnicities were finally able to go to school together and learn the same criteria.     Title 9
    Specifically, Title Nine states "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." This act made it easier for women to go out and do things that they wanted to do, it made things easier for them to be confident and get an education to do get a well paying job,
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    In 2002, George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act. The purpose of this act is to help students achieve more by giving all students the same opportunities for a good education. This has been really effective in the past few years.     Every Student Succeeds Act
    On December 5, 2015, Former President Barrack Obama signed the act named Every Student Succeeds (ESSA). This act focused on progress in schools and what educators could do to push students to be at their best.     This act plays off of ESSA, it gives students to ability to have a preparing education that will help them get the training that they need for their future occupation of their choice. Also so they have a safe and healthy environment to learn in.
