Common School
During the Common School movement people pulled their resources together to hire a teacher. During this time thy had horn books for the children and it was closely related to the bible. They were very biblical in the schools during this time. Horace Mann was involved because he was the father of American education during the Common school movement. He was a spokesman for the movement. He was the chief state school officer for 12 years and because of him more schools were built. -
The First Law: Massachusetts
The selectmen were ordered to make sure parents and masters were teaching the children. If the selectmen noticed that a student didn't get taught that student was assigned a new master. -

This was a case that banned segregation from schools. It started with some parents wanting to enroll their African-American children in an white school but they were denied so the had to go to one of the four schools for African-American schools.
