First Kindergarten in America
The first Kindergarten was opened in 1856 in Watertown, Wisconsin by Margarethe Schurz. The school was located in a small building at the corner of N. 2nd Street and Jones street. The class contained five children: Her two daughters, two of her female family members, and the son of a local editor. The school ran in Watertown until 1857 when the family moved.

Robert Yerkes invented a test to see how intelligent someone was. The test consisted of three different tests: The first test was a written test called the Army Alpha, if they failed that test, they were given a pictorial test called the Army Beta, and if they failed both those test they were given an individual examination; usually on the Binet Scales. Brown Vs Board of Education.
Oliver Brown filed a lawsuit against the separate but equal act after his daughter was denied from Topekas all-white schools. It made segregated schools illegal; some were still around since most blacks were in low-income areas. It changed education forever as it allowed everyone to learn equally no matter where they were located. First Magnet School is opened
A magnet school is a school focused mainly on a certain theme. In Tacoma, Washington the first magnet school was opened. It was focused mainly on reducing racial isolation. The school was called McCarver Elementary Schools and was a huge success.
