    Torres Quevedo was an early 19 hundreds inventor who was one of the first to propose automation, which he did through one of the first chess robots ever created. In 1920 he took the cogwheel functions of Charles Babbage and implemented electromagnetic parts instead to create an arithmometer where a typewriter typed and printed the results.

    The Bell Telephone Laboratories were a big part of a bigger company, formed in 1885 by Alexander Graham Bell. In 1925 the labs split off and became part of Nokia. Together they helped improved communications.
