    Computers were large, expensive and they requived a lot of electricity.
    They used vacum tubes. Vacum tubes were made of glass bulbs and wire.

    2nd generation

    Computers were samller, faster and cheaper.
    They used transitors instead of vacum tubes
  • Period: to

    3rd generation

    Computers were faster, cheaper and smaller and they used less electricity. They used integrated circuits.Integrated circuits were as small as transistors but faster than them.
  • Period: to

    4th generation

    They were smaller, portable and cheaper. They used microprocesors. Microprocessors were small silicon chips. Computers used less electricity and produced less heat
  • 5th generation

    Are the most advanced computers. Scientist are trying to develop computers to think on their own. This is called artificial inteligence. They are the computers of the future
