    Gary Starkweather , a Xerox PARC physicist, realizes that a copy machine's light-sensitive drum isn't the only way to create an image. A laser could be used to "write" it instead. Less than a year later, he built the world's first laser printer, which was the Xerox 9700.

    The first computer monitor is released as part of the Xerox Alto computer system. This was also referred to as a VDT (video display terminal that displays images and text. It was made of a few components including circuitry, a screen, a power supply, and buttons to change settings.
  • Apple's Lisa

    Apple introduces Lisa, the first personal computer with a graphical used interface. This was the first commercial computer with a GUI (Graphical User Interface). It had icons instead of just text.

    Apple introduces the Macintosh with a television commercial during the 1984 Super Bowl.ts price was $2,500. It was a computer line created by Steve Wosniak and Steve Jobs. It costed less than Apple's Lisa, but was also less advanced.
  • Windows 3.0

    Microsoft releases Windows 3.0 which succeeded Windows 2.1x. It is a completely new and advanced version of Microsoft Windows. The version sold more than 3 million copies in one year.

    Apple created the Newton which was a handheld computer. It was called a “Personal Data Assistant” by John Scully who was Apple’s president. The Newton had features that would define it as a handheld computer.

    The online retailer Amazon released the Kindle, one of the first to gain a large following among consumers. The Kindle had wireless access to content via Amazon.com, and also came with an SD card slot allowing increased storage.
  • iPhone

    Apple launches the iPhone with IOS which had a combination of web browser, music player, and cell phone. It was touchscreen and able to have apps downloaded to it from the Apple Store along with many other features we know of today.

    I was about nine years old when I got my first iPod. I had it for about three years until I got my phone, but never was completely attached to it. At the time, it seemed like a big deal, but looking back on it, all I used it for was a few games and pictures.
