Women in Italy wore long dresses with sleeves that reached the floor, these were called houppelandes. These gowns were extreme and extravegant. They were worn with headpeices that contained feathers and jewels. They were also swagged and draped. -
Silhouettes and white wigs
The Europeans widened their silhouettes for both men and women, following the tall, narrow look from the 1680's and 90's. Men often wore white wigs. Natural hair was powdered white to achieve the fashionable look.
