Cugnot made the first self-propelled road vehicle

• 1769. A french inventor called Cugnot made the first self-propelled road vehicle. It was a steam propelled car which was moved with a steam piston in rotating motion.

Trevithick built the first functional railway steam locomotive.

• 1801. Richard Trevithick built the first functional railway steam locomotive.

Francois Isaac de Rivaz, created the internal combustion engine

Jan 17, 1832

• Francois Isaac de Rivaz, a Swiss inventor, created the internal combustion engine that used a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen as fuel. Rivaz designed a car for this engine. It was the first combustion powered vehicle.

Upgrade to Internal Cumbustion Engine

Jan 3, 1860

• 1860. A German inventor, named Samuel Marcus, made an upgrade to a combustion engine so that it worked on liquid combustibles. It was the first vehicle powered by gasoline.

Benz created the first commercial car

Jan 1, 1885

• 1885. Karl Benz created the very first commercial vehicle, the Motorwagen. It was his design. It was powered by a four stroke gasoline engine.

Car Racing Was Created

• 1893. Car racing was created. It was organized by a Paris Magazine. They tested the reliability of the cars in the test.

Ford's first car

• 1903. Henry Ford released his first model “A”. It was Ford Company´s first car

Racing is turned into a Sport

• 1910. Companies like Delage, Auto Union, Mercedes Benz, Delehaye, and Bugatti transformed their vehicles into high powered racing machines. Racing was becoming a sport.

1st Car Assembly line

Luxury cars are invented
