Then they would be fired to preserve the writing that were apon them.Papyrus were used as pens in those days after they went through a process of being stripped from the stems. -

Romans used Wax tablets for everyday life; teaching kids, recording things, taking notes. They used wax so incase of an mistake they can easily erase it.They used a stylist to write, which is like a pen, pointed tip, sphyrical end.Some compare it to a Codex. -
Parchment 3rd Century B.C
Parchments is the use of animal skins because it is more solid and preserve longer. They dont break easily when dropped.Took awhile to produce a document. -
