    Calamus was a Tablet made of clay at which they would use tools to write their language aponThe clay would need to be moist in or to write on. Then they would be fired to preserve the writing that were apon them.Papyrus were used as pens in those days after they went through a process of being stripped from the stems.

    Back in China, long long ago, they would write on bones and shells, carving like others did on clay tablets.

    Romans used Wax tablets for everyday life; teaching kids, recording things, taking notes. They used wax so incase of an mistake they can easily erase it.They used a stylist to write, which is like a pen, pointed tip, sphyrical end.Some compare it to a Codex.

    Parchments is the use of animal skins because it is more solid and preserve longer. They dont break easily when dropped.Took awhile to produce a document.
