A visiting school inspector believed a high school could be added to the existing State School. -
2ndary Dept @ ASS opened
A secondary department opened at Ayr State School. It offered academic, commercial, domestic science and manual training subjects. -
QLD Govt to build High School
Queensland Government decided to build a High and Intermediate school on 10 acres set aside for fair grouns and sports areas. Plans were drawn up. -
Work starts on Ayr High
Work started on the two story building for the Ayr State High & Intermediate school. -
Building of High School fininshed
The building of "A" Bolck was completed. -
Flood delayed school opening
Floods delayed the arrival of furniture so the official school opening was delayed. -
Official opening of new school
Ayr High and Intermediate School was officially open with an enrolment of 271 students. -

First group of senior students were elected as prefects. -

School expands and a new block is built. -

Renamed Ayr State High School
The school was renamed Ayr State High School. -
5 year secondary course
It was in this year that the 5 year secondary course commenced with 6 girls and 2 boys enroled.
