Aborigines
They were the original inhabitants of Australia. They lived in the south eastern part of Australia. They had a complex society. The society was without chiefs or leaders. They had strong religious life about nature. Their responsibility was to take care of the earth. -
Dutches (Netherlands
Dutches were the first to sail Australia,but when trying to land they got attacked by the Aborigines. -
James Cook
In 1770 British Explorer James Cook claimed Australia and New Zealand for Great Britian. -
The British Settlement
The British Settlement of Australia began in 1788. Early Settlers were convicted criminals who had been exiled to Australia. Colonist farmed and ranched in the local areas. -
European settlers
The Europeans arrived in large numbers in 1800. -

Colonist discovered gold, and the british population soared!! -
Pacific islands
The U.S.A,France,Great Britian,and Japan cotrolled most of the Pacific islands.Some lands were taken,because of there natural resources and location. -
Independence of Aussie
Australia and New Zealand gained there independence peacefully, including some Pacific islands won independence,too! -
Ethnocentrism
Aboriginal children were taken away from their families and forced to lived with white families. -
Western Samoa
The nonviolent Mau movement had to work for independence, which is now Samoa.
