Edwin Hubble
Edwin Hubble @ WikipediaNovember 20, 1889, Missouri, USA - September 28, 1953, California, USA.
Hubble extended the work of Vesto Slipher by using the larger Hooker telescope.
He determined that the further a galaxy is from Earth, the faster it moves away.
Identified that there were external galaxies which were not part of the Milky Way.
He was able to do this with the research of Henrietta Leavitt's period-luminousity relationship and Einsteins equations of general relativity for an expanding space.
