Horace Mann's development of the common school
By creating the common school Horace Mann started the process of creating a more level playing field for all children not just young white wealthy boys. By allowing all children to learn the same material in the same school, these children would be able to improve their social and financial standings as educated adults decreasing the gap there was between rich white men and all others.

By introducing art, music and gym G. Stanley Hall offered children a broader range of knowledge. Without the introduction of these classes into school programs, there would have been a wider range of children never introduced to the fine arts and, would have never developed a love for such subjects, making the world miss out on great artists. Constructing parks and playgrounds at schools gave children’s brains a break and provided an outlet for them.

Brown Vs Board of Education Supreme Court ruling.
This historic ruling brought Horace Mann’s vision of a common school to life; legally ending the horrendous segregation laws in public schools. Having children seperated from a young age based solely on their skin color or heritage only teaches children that that behavior is acceptable and continues the cycle of racism. By allowing all children to learn and socialize together it normalizes differences and fosters a more caring and unbiased society.

Congress authorized Public Law 85-926 supporting training and preparation of SPED teachers.
To legally have support for special education teachers to attain training encourages advancement in the field and, creates teachers who are prepared to work with wonderful young children who learn differently, but who still want to learn. Arguably special education teachers need more training and preparation than general education teachers on the basis of multiple different disabilities and behaviors associated with special needs children.

By advancing their education these children would have a brighter future.
