While this was going on they demanded that all American planes be landed, the closest location being Gander Newfoundland. The planes were landed with hundreds of people in them. My Family Came to Canada
My mom came to Canada to join her family. Ready to start a new life in a new country. Excited and pleased to be reunited with her family again. -

My mom went to high school in North York. Having very popular siblings, and being quite a smart student school wasnt too rough. Played instruments and did sports like track and basketball. -
Residental Schools
Residential schools started in the early 19th - 20th century. At these schools discipline was harsh, and the students culture were not respected. They were not allowed to even speak their own language inside school walls.This was important to our Canadian History because it showed that we are able to acknowledge when were wrong and apology's for it. -

Got Married
Getting married to my step dad. -
Lost a brother (My Mom)
My mom lost a brother. She didnt see him in a while which made the experince even more heart breaking. -
Moving into a more permanent house
After living in Canada for a while, my grandmother and her children found a more permanet house. Which is the one she has now.
