    The was a secret alliance between Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy that renewed until WW1. This alliance was to help support each country if there was an attack by another great power.

    The Zeppelin is a rigid airship created by a German Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin and was first flown by Deutsche Luffschiffahrts-AGIN 1910. During WW1 Zeppelins were used because they were excellent for bombing and scouts.

    A Gavrila Princip of the Serbian terrorist group The Black Hand assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on the 28th of June 1914 in the town Bosnian of Sarajevo. Princip hated the absorption of Serbia into the Austrio-Hungarian Empire, therefor played out the assignation.

    In August of 1914 Belgium used the new Lewis Machine gun during WW1. The Lewis machine gun was a light machine gun that was widely used because of its speed and because it only needed one person to operate it.

    This was the first major battle of WW1 that the Canadian troops took place in, it was also the battle where Flanders Field was written. It took place from the 22nd of April to 25th of may 1915, just outside of the Belgian city, Ypres. This battle started the the German and the Allied forces, Belgian, France, British and Canadian's encountered.

    The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties signed after WW1 on January 10th 1920 in The Palace of Versailles in France. This treaty ended the war between Germany and Allied powers.

    In 1957 The Canadian Council for the Arts was formed to help increase the recognition for the Canadian arts. The main reason for this was because the american arts were becoming very popular in Canada so the government formed the council to keep the Canadian arts going.
