Pearl Harbor Video Clip 343 Japanese planes attacked the US Naval Base Pearl Harbor early in the morning. 2,402 Americans were killed and four battleships were sunk. This prompted the United States to enter World War Two on the side of the Allies. -

After US and Phillipine forces surrender to the Japanese, approx 70,000troops are forced to march 80 miles to a POW camp. Between 2,500-10,000 Phillipino soldiers and 250-600 American soldiers died before reaching the POW camp. -

Japanese Attack California
With American forces regrouping after monthes of heavy fighting, the Japanese Navy goes on the offensive and attacks the coast of California. Although the city of San Francisco was leveled by bombardment, the American navy quickly responded and pushed back the attack. 10,000 American civilians died in the attack. -
Land Attack on Tokyo Begins
With the war in the Pacific still crawling, the Americans decide the only way to end the war is to attack Tokyo. Three million US troops are deployed and the battle rages for two monthes. US air support was rendered useless due to the close proximity of American forces. In the end, the US captured the city of Tokyo, but at a cost of 400,000 casulties. -
War Ends - Economic Troubles Begin
After the fall of Tokyo, the Japanese officially surrender. The war is a victory for Americans, but the victory celebration is short-lived. The prolonged war has taken its toll on the US economy. The US falls into a depression worse than that seen during the 1930s that will take the next decade to get out of.
