    Winter palace guards open fire on a peaceful demonstration and the public blames Tsar Nicholas, this leads to unrest and to starts the first Russian revolution.

    Russo-Japanese war ends
    Russia loses the Russo-Japanese war which demoralizes the Russian military and navy for the humiliating defeats sustained. The black sea fleet ended up staging a mutiny in June due to the low morale from this event. The lose of this war also ends Russia's far eastern expansionism and additionally creates unrest in the empire.
  • Coup of June

    Coup of June
    After two years of widespread unrest, mutiny's in the black sea fleet and a hamulating defeat against the Japanese a coup leads to the dissolution of the second state Duma. Change in electoral law occurs and the absolute power of the monarchy ends. This event effectively ends the first Russian resolution.

    WWI
    Germany declares war on the Russian Empire over conflicting interest in the Balkans. This will cause massive strain on the Russian economy.
  • February Revolution

    February Revolution
    Protests in Petrograd (St Petersburg) lead to the abolish of the Russian monarchy after eight days of protesting. A provisional government is formed and takes over.
  • June offensive

    June offensive
    The Russian military launches a massive offensive. At first it is effective however due to low morale the offensive falls apart and mass desertion occurs. This failure is a huge blow to Russia's already low war support and significantly hinders Russia's military's capability.
  • October revolution

    October revolution
    The Bolsheviks lead by Lenin take control of Petrograd and take control of the winter palace where the reminisce of the collapsing provincial government remains. Marxist ideals are put into affect and Bolshevik influence spreads across the empire and the Bolsheviks for the most part take control of the unstable empire.
  • Brest-Litovsk Treaty

    Brest-Litovsk Treaty
    Russia ends its participation in the first world war and loses much of the empires territory, most importantly Ukraine the former bread basket of the Russian Empire. Due to these territorial losses the industrial capacity and food output of Russia is significantly reduced. Russia is incapable of reacquiring these territories due to civil war between the Bolsheviks, white army and other minor groups.
  • Anti revolutionary forces crumble

    Anti revolutionary forces crumble
    By now the Bolsheviks have solidified their position in western Russia and have moved west into Poland and the Baltics. However the soviets still haven't completely dealt with the white army but mainly black army in southern Ukraine and Crimea. On this November soviet forces attacked southern Ukraine and eliminated a large part of the white army and practically wiped out the black army. This sealed the fate of Ukraine becoming red.
  • Union of Soviet Socialist Republics founded

    Union of Soviet Socialist Republics founded
    The white army is now shattered and hold only undeveloped territory away from the trans Siberian railway and are no longer a threat to the Bolsheviks. Because of this the Bolsheviks finalize the revolution and form the USSR. While all the republics wont be completely figured out and the white army 100% crushed until later on the now young USSR wont have any border adjustments until 1939.
