Brown V. Board decision
It was proven that school segregation affected the education of African-americans. School segregation was ruled unconstitutional. The event led up to the Little Rock Nine. The Southern states will take longer to adapt to this new rule. They don't want to accept African-americans. -

Emmett Till murder
Emmett was visiting Mississippi when he was killed for flirting with a white woman in a store. There were signs of torture. He was 14 years old. His funeral was an open casket. The parents wanted to show the world how bad racism is. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. She was arested, the boycott started. One month later, bus seggregation became illegal. -
Little Rock Nine
Nine African-american students were sent to an all white school. People rioted. Eventually, the children had to be evacuated. The government stepped in and sent in troops to protect the nine. Each of them received a personal guard durring school, they escorted them from class to class armed with machine guns. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Soviets sent nuclear missiles to Cuba. One of our spy planes found them building a nuclear base. Because Cuba is so close to America, we could not allow this to happen. As a result, JFK blockaded cuba to stop soviet ships from entering. We eventually reached an agreement for them the send the missiles out. We promised to not invade them. -
March on Washington
More the 200,000 thousand americans gathered to demand civil rights. This event was led by Martin Luther King Jr. He spoke his famous speach "I Have A Dream". The speach called for racial justice and equality. -
Assassination of JFK
A sniper from a nearby building shot the president of the United States. He fired 3 bullets. One of the bullets went through the back of his head. This event changed america forever. The assassin was Lee Harvey Aswald. He was shot and killed on live TV as he was headed to a prison truck. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
This act outlawed the discrimination. It stated the all men were created equal. It gave all citizens the right to vote. This was a huge victory for African Americans. After a long and painful protest, it all payed off. -
Selma Bridge Incident
The police attacked many peaceful protestors brutally. Many were beaten. The march on the bridge was part of Martin Luther King's plan to march on Montgomery. This event marked the day to be called as "Bloody Sunday". -
Assassination of MLK
Martin Luther King effectivly lead the civil rights protest across america. He planned numerous events such as marches. On this day, he was shot by a white man whom knocked on his door. Many were outraged, this event would change america forever.
