    The Declaration of Independence was made for people to be able to have their own rights in the world. The rights were to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    In 1803, president Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana territory, which made America a bigger place.
  • Lewis and Clark's journey

    Lewis and Clark leave from St. Louis on May 14, 1804 and return to St. Louis over two years later in September 23, 1806.
  • The California Gold Rush

    The California gold rush began on January 24, 1848, when James W. Marshall found gold at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, and ended in 1855.
  • The Attack on Fort Sumter

    The Attack on Fort Sumter
    At Fort Sumter a federal outpost was attacked by confederate troops in Charleston, South Carolina, beginning the Civil War.

    Lot's of poor families were forced to live with other families, up to three other families. These families got the worst living conditions. They had trash and dirt and disease-causing bacteria that grew easily in there living conditions. That caused many of those families to get sick and sometimes die.

    Several terrorists took control over four commercial airliners. They used them as weapons to attack sites in Washington, D.C., and NYC. Around 3,000 people were killed and more than 500,000 people had to get rescued on boats from the Island to get to safety.
