    The first country to develop and release 1G was Japan. It ran at round 2.4kbps.
  • 2G

    2G was first introduced in Finland in 1991. It ran at up to 0.1 Mbps.
  • 3G

    3G was released to the public in Japan, in 2001. 3G has a lot more capabilities than its predecessors, and is thirty times faster. Some 3G connections can achieve speeds of 7Mbps.
  • 4G

    4G runs at a minimum of 12.5 mbps. It was released in Norway in 2009. The maximum speed is up to 55.5 Mbps.
  • 5G

    5G is very new, South Korea developed it in March of 2019. "Some experts are now claiming that 5G will be 20 times faster than 4G. In fact, the median 5G download speed in Canada is 169.46 Mbps. That’s already 205% faster than 4G!" (cengn.ca)
