    Afghanistan War started in late 2001 and was triggered by the September 11th attacks. It lasted till 2014, within that time Osman bin laden had been killed.

    George W Bush was the 43rd president of the United States from 2001 to 2009. He made many promises like "ensuring national security and protecting the environment" (“The Broken Promises of George W. Bush”) he was unable to keep all of his promises.
  • 9/11 terrorist attacks

    9/11 terrorist attacks
    This day changed a lot of things for Americans, the terrorist attack against America killed almost 3,000 people. 2 planes hit the world trade center as well as one hit the pentagon, and another was aimed for the white house, but the passengers stopped it before it was hit. It was a terrible day that will never be forgotten.

    I was born in 2005 so I don't remember much from the early 2000s.
  • Great recession

    Economic downturn from 2007 to 2009 and was the most severe recession since the great depression. Unemployment hit 25% and a lot of the issues came from giving people with bad credit risks mortgages.
  • Invention of the iPhone

    Invention of the iPhone
    In 2007 technology was growing and new things were invented like the iPhone. It was a mobile phone that opened up more of the world to communication devices.
  • Barack Obama

    Barack Obama
    Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States. He was also the first African American to "hold office"(Mendell and Wallenfeldt). Before becoming president, he was a U.S senate representing Illinois.
  • Climate change

    Climate change is more of a urgent matter than ever before for younger generations. President Obama signed the Paris climate accord, but it got swept out by President Trump.
  • Osama bin Laden Death

    Seal team six went in secretly to a compound in Pakistan to kill or capture Osama bin Laden. The raid was successful and the man in charge of al-Quida and to blame for 9/11 was killed.
  • American sniper

    American sniper is a fascinating book to me I loved the read and though it was so interesting to read someone's first had experience of the Iraq war. It's in my top ten books and the movie also depicted the story so well.
  • Gay Marriage

    Same sex marriage became legal in all 50 states.
  • Covid- 19 for me

    I was a freshman in high school, and it was almost spring break when I heard about covid. I didn't know at the time that I wouldn't go back to school that year when spring break was over. My sophomore year I went to school in a mask and got quarantined 3 or 4 times, so I was online almost half the time.
  • Covid-19

    Covid was a worldwide virus that originated in China and spread its way around the world. It affected almost everyone in America because rules were put in place to protect one another from the virus.
  • Hamas attacks Israel

    In late September of 2023 Hamas attacked Israel. Roughly 1,200 Israelis were killed, and it stared a war and it has yet to end.
  • Voting

    This hasn't happened yet but I will be voting for the 47th president come November.
