    The Royal Mail Service Titanic had an estimated 2,224 people on it and hit an iceburg. There were not many survivors and there are none still alive today. It changed rules and laws so that other disasters will not have as many deaths and injuries.

    A German passenger airship caught on fire and was destroyed in its attempt to dock. There were 97 people on board and 36 died, 13 of them being passengers. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
