Facts:
The first flight took place on February 9, 1969 and the 747 was certified in December of that year. It entered service with Pan Am on January 22, 1970. The 747 was the first aeroplane called a jumbo jet. The Boeing 747 was a large wide bodied (two aisle) airliner with four wing-mounted engines. The attacks killed 2977 people from 93 nations. 2753 people were killed in New York and 184 people were killed at the Pentagon. 40 people were killed on flight 93.
