Horace Mann Gets Appointed Secretary of Education
Horace Mann is the reason we have public education. Without him speaking up who knows where we would be today or when public education would have became possible. I agree with Horace Mann that everyone should have the opportunity for an education. -
The Child-Centered Education Approach
I included this because I feel like it is something that affects me. I know I learn better when I am given more hands-on experiences instead of just listening to lectures. I feel that this helped a lot of students to be better learners and to be able to learn to the best of their abilities. -
Brown vs the Board of Education
I think this is a very important event because it created to students to learn in equal environments. It gave the students the same opportunities to learn instead of giving the white students better education that the African American students. I also think that it help bring our country closer together as opposed to being separated because of the color of your skin. -
Individuals with Disabilites Education Act
This act also means a lot to me. I have worked with many students with disabilities and they deserve the same right to an education as everyone else. They may not be learning the same thing or the same way as other students, but for them to be successful in the future they need to be given the opportunity. -
No Child Left Behind Act
This act caused all students to get an equal education. I think this is very important because it is not the child's fault if their family in low-income or they are part of a minority. All students should get the same opportunities to have the future that they want and by giving them an education, it makes it possible.
