  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
In 1954, African American children were allowed to enroll into public schools with White children. This act passed for the cut due to the fact of it allowing African American Children attend the White Children's school. It gave both races a chance to get to know one another and to help each of the races to come to an understanding that they are no different from each other, they are all the same.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    Elementary and Secondary Education Act
Allowed programs such as Head Start and Title 1 to become active. Act allowed children ages 3-5 to get the school readiness that is needed to get into Kindergarten. Title 1 was for the lower income students to get the extra help that was needed for them to succeed. Act made the cut because schools were noticing that some of the children were not succeeding the standards that were needed for school. If Act was not passed, education would be much harder for the children who need the extra help.
  • Lau v. Nichols Act

    Lau v. Nichols Act
Was passed in 1974, for the students who were Non-English-Speaking. The Lau v. Nichols Act provided schools with federal funds that had to be used to provide the proper education to the Non-English-Speaking to receive equal education. This Act had put into action when a suit was filed against the 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause and Section 601 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This Act made the cut because it helped out our Hmong & Asian students to get a better understanding of learning.
  • IDEA

    IDEA
Act was passed in 1975, allowing children who have a disability to get the help they needed. IDEA was made to ensure that all children with a disability will be provided with the appropriate help for that disability. ACT was passed for the children with differing abilities and had an IEP on file with the school to get the help that was needed. More than half of the community(s) had children with a disability. If the Act did not make the cut, education would not be how it is today.
