AM stands for Amplitude modulation. They have 535 KHz - 1605 KHz. -

Lee De Forest created the audion tube, a vacuum tube that amplified signals.Some believe that is was Reginald Fessenden who came up with the idea. -
Titanic
The radio had an affect on the Titanic. People could contact other people that the Titanic was sinking. -
KDKA
The first radio station was in 1920. It was named 8XK and was later named KDKA. Its still around today. -
Uncle Charlie
People could make personal radio stations. They had to make it a law to have a lisence to broadcast. Their were so many people broadcasting. -
The Dawn of Advertising
Radio stations started advertising in 1922. They didn't charge much. WEAF aired a 10 minute commercial charging $50. -
FRC
Unclie Charlie was too popular. People established the FRC in 1927. You had to have a license to broadcast. -
Golden Era
The 30's and 40's were the great depression. In the great depression people were really poor. Radio provided an escape. -
Family Medium
Radio was known as a family medium. The entire family could enjoy it together. There were music, stories, dramas, etc. playing on the radio. -
Radio shows to TV
It didn't work very well at first. People didn't like that they had to look at a screen. They didn't picture the actors like how they looked. -
FM Waves
FM stands for Frequency Modulation. It has 88 - 108 MHz.
