HC - King is arrested during a sit-in demonstration at Rich’s department store in Atlanta. He is sentenced to four months hard labor for violating a suspended sentence he received for a 1956 traffic violation. He is released on $2000 bond on 27 October.

Book- Skeeter returns back home and she realized her best friend (the maid) was no longer there. She tried to know the truth but nobody told her the truth.

Book- Minny gets fired form Hilly's and can't find another job. Aibileen later tells her that Hilly went around telling everyone she knew that Minny was a thief.

World- President Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas, Tex. He is succeeded in office by his vice president, Lyndon B. Johnson.

Book- Aibileen agrees to help Skeeter with her book. Skeeter doesn't understand why nobody would want to share their stories, but Aibileen tells her that her sharing things to her was ilegal.

Book- After Minny gets fired she walks in when Skeeter an Aibileen are talking. First she gets mad, and then seconds later she says she will help too.

Book- Celia ( Minny ex boss) thinks that Johnny won't want her anymore if she cant have babies because she had multiple miscarriages. Minny tries to tell her that he would still love her.

Book- Hilly fired another maid because she stole one of Hilly's least favorite rings because Hilly wouldn’t give her a loan to help send her boys to college. Which helped because Skeeter got more maids for her book.

Book- Minny confesses what she stole from Hilly. Minny made one of Hilly's favorite chocolate pies so Hilly wouldn't be as mad.
